What we build to

The catalog aims at WCAG 2.1 level AA. Pages are plain HTML with a single stylesheet, so they work with text scaled up, with images off and on a slow connection.

Specifics

• Every product image carries a description of the figure, not a filename
• Headings run in order, so a screen reader can skim a page structurally
• The whole site is reachable by keyboard, including the menu and the search box
• Body text sits at 17 pixels with generous line height and reflows down to a 320 pixel screen
• Text and background contrast is checked against the AA threshold, including the dark sections

Known gaps

Product images come from the manufacturer and vary in quality; a few are small enough that fine stitching detail is lost when zoomed. Where that matters we describe the detail in the text instead.
